Luka Dončić was selected third overall by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2018 NBA Draft and traded on draft night to the Dallas Mavericks for the rights to Trae Young. Jordan Brand announced him as a signature athlete in December 2019 on a five-year deal, making him the first European player to get a Jordan Brand signature shoe, and in August 2023 the brand extended the partnership through 2029. In February 2025, Dallas traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Jordan Luka 1 was designed for Dončić’s deceptive, off-speed style of play. He debuted it in Game 4 against the Utah Jazz in the 2022 playoffs, and it released later that year as a low-cut shoe with an IsoPlate foot frame wrapping the lateral forefoot, full-length Formula 23 foam, and Flightwire cables on the lateral side of the upper. The Luka 2 arrived in July 2023 with an upgraded IsoPlate and a new medial Cushlon foam wedge alongside its Formula 23 cushioning. In July 2024, the Luka 3 switched to full-length Cushlon 3.0 foam and extended the IsoPlate onto the forefoot to anchor his signature step-back. The Luka 4 released on April 8, 2025, alongside the Luka .77, a “takedown” model built for outdoor basketball. It brought the line’s first Nike Zoom Air unit, a reshaped IsoPlate, a Cushlon 3.0 midsole and the return of Flightwire cables. The Luka 5 followed on January 8, 2026, adding a full-length Zoom Strobel for propulsion and a new ISOband for stability and lateral control, paired with Cushlon 3.0 and the IsoPlate.
