Review consensus

No detailed performance reviews of the Real Deal turned up, either for the 1997 original or the retros. The shoe was built as an all-around performance model for a big forward, pairing adiPRENE cushioning with a molded EVA midsole and a rubber outsole.

About the shoe

The adidas Real Deal was the first signature shoe of Antoine Walker, released in 1997 while he played for the Boston Celtics. It came out during adidas’ “Feet You Wear” era, and Walker appeared in its print ads. As his debut model, it had no earlier signature shoe to be compared with, and its design followed the wavy, bulky look of late-1990s basketball shoes. Sources give no original retail price, but adidas brought it back as a retro in 2013 after a 16-year break, and at least one retro colourway retailed for $110.
