Review consensus

Retrospective reviews describe the T-Mac 4 as very comfortable to play in but heavy, with one calling it quite possibly the heaviest basketball shoe of the modern era. The HUG closure is remembered more as an ambitious design than a performance upgrade, and WearTesters calls it "more of a gimmick than anything else, but still super cool."

About the shoe

The Adidas T-Mac 4 is the fourth signature shoe for Tracy McGrady, released in 2004 for his first season with the Houston Rockets. It was a complete redesign of the line that dropped traditional laces for adidas’ HUG system, a laceless compression closure based on ski boots. The system is tightened with a fold-out lever and dial in the heel that tension cables running through the shoe. McGrady wore it in December 2004 when he scored 13 points in the final seconds against the San Antonio Spurs.
