Review consensus

Reviewers found the TS Commander sturdy and stable, with solid traction and a SELECT cushioning system that works well, which makes it better suited to forwards and big men than to guards who drive the lane. The main complaint is that the padding around the ankle reduces how well the strap locks the foot down.

About the shoe

The adidas TS Commander belongs to adidas’ Team Signature (TS) collection for its top NBA players, and Tim Duncan wore his version in the 2008-09 season after wearing the TS Lightspeed in 2007-08. It was released in October 2008 with a synthetic leather upper, laser etching that saves weight, and a compression-molded EVA midsole. The headline feature is the SELECT modular cushioning system, which lets wearers swap sockliners to change fit and feel: a softer PU insole or a firmer, denser adiPRENE insole. An ankle strap and a non-marking rubber outsole complete the design.
