About the shoe
Featured in the famous Spike Lee/Michael Jordan commercials, the Jordan 3 did not sell well during its initial run but fared better when re-released in 2001. The shoe was the first to feature the NIKE AIR logo, which was later replaced by the iconic Jumpman. The shoe has been re-released a record eight times and is currently available for purchase.

In a recent ESPN article, the story of the chaotic design process used to bring the original Jordan 3 to market is described, with Tinker Hatfield, the legendary designer of the show stating that had the shoe not been a success, “Michael really did want to leave us at the time”.
