Review consensus

Reviewers call the 247 an unusually polished debut, with its standout traction, a balanced and responsive cushioning setup and some of the best materials in the category. The main drawbacks are a thin knit tongue that can create lace pressure and an outsole that is not suited to outdoor courts.

About the shoe

The EQLZ 247 is the first performance basketball shoe from the independent brand EQLZ. It was designed by former Nike designer Aaron Cooper, and Nneka Ogwumike wears it on court. As the brand’s debut model it has no predecessor, and it combines a top-grain leather and knit upper with supercritical PEBAX cushioning and an ergonomic TPU lateral piece for containment. It launched in the “Phantom Zombie” colourway only on eqlz.com, with all-black and all-white versions following later. The retail price was $150.
