Review consensus

Reviewers rate the Air Penny 3 highly for performance, and support is its standout feature thanks to the Foamposite wing. The forefoot cushioning feels firm and thin out of the box and needs a long break-in. The shoe runs narrow, and heel lockdown is a weak spot, as on other models in the line.

About the shoe

The Nike Air Penny 3 is the third signature shoe for Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway and debuted in 1997, while he played for the Orlando Magic. It was the first Air Penny to use Foamposite: a molded Foamposite wing sits over a leather upper, and carbon fiber reinforces the midfoot. Cushioning pairs a heel Air Max unit with a low-profile Zoom Air unit in the forefoot. The available sources do not give the original retail price, but the 2020 Black/Royal reissue retailed for $155.
