Review consensus

Reviewers of the retro rate it as one of the better Air Penny models, with comfortable Air Max and Zoom Air cushioning and a strong, strap-assisted fit. Traction is its main weakness, described as mediocre, which makes it better suited to bigger players than to quick guards.

About the shoe

The Nike Air Penny 4 is the fourth signature shoe in Penny Hardaway’s Air Penny line, designed by Eric Avar and released in 1998. It is a strapped mid-cut with a collar strap, a premium leather upper with parallel stitching reminiscent of the Air Jordan XII, and a suede-wrapped sole that draws on the Air Jordan XIII. Cushioning comes from visible Max Air in the heel, paired with forefoot Zoom Air on the retro. The original retail price is not given in available sources, but the 2017 Orlando Magic retro sold for $160.
