About the shoe
The Nike Air Swoopes Zoom is the third signature shoe Nike made for Sheryl Swoopes, released in 1997 during her rookie WNBA season with the Houston Comets. It came after a side-laced mid-cut that looked more like a cross trainer, and its name refers to Nike’s Zoom cushioning. The main design feature is a claw-like piece that runs up the side of the shoe, which Complex compared to Jason Kidd’s Zoom Flight Five. It was one of the first women’s-specific sneakers to get national ads, and no source found lists its original retail price.
