Review consensus

Reviewers of the retro say The Glove's zippered shroud and Monkey Paw cage give it unusually strong lockdown for a 1990s design. However, its traction and Zoom Air cushioning are only average, and the shroud makes ventilation its biggest weakness.

About the shoe

The Nike Air Zoom Flight ’98, nicknamed The Glove, was Gary Payton’s first signature shoe and first released in 1998. Before it, Payton wore the Nike Air Hawk Flight, a low-riding guard shoe. The Glove replaced an exposed lace-up upper with a zip-up shroud over an inner bootie and internal lacing. Underneath are a Monkey Paw support cage, a midfoot shank plate and Zoom Air cushioning. No available source gives the original 1998 retail price; the 2026 retro in Black/White/University Red (IV6206-010) is listed at $170 by Nike.
