Review consensus

No modern performance reviews of the original Air Zoom GP II were found. Contemporary specs describe a shoe built for a quick guard, pairing heel and forefoot Zoom Air with a TPU stability chassis and an ankle support piece, and Nice Kicks notes it was relatively popular for its light build.

About the shoe

The Air Zoom GP II is the second model in Gary Payton’s Nike signature line, following the 1999 Zoom GP, and was designed by Nike’s Alpha Project team. It moved to a lightweight one-piece synthetic leather upper with a “shimmer” finish and added an injection-molded TPU chassis for stability. Cushioning comes from a fully internalized Phylon midsole with Zoom Air units in the forefoot and heel. It released in 2000 with a retail price of $125.
