Review Consensus
Most current reviews cover the 2024 Protro, which keeps the original's design, and they rank its grip among the best traction setups ever made, as long as the court is kept clean. Reviewers say it offers bouncy cushioning, strong lockdown and a mobile low-cut fit, but the fit is narrow and the outsole rubber is not durable enough for outdoor courts.
Release Date: June 2014
The Kobe 9 Elite Low is the low-top version of Kobe Bryant’s ninth Nike signature shoe. After a limited HTM release in Milan in April 2014, it went on sale in the US on NIKEiD in June 2014, and the “Moonwalker” general release followed on July 12. It keeps the Flyknit upper, Flywire and Lunarlon cushioning of the high-top Kobe 9 Elite but lowers the collar, and it has a carbon fiber heel counter. The retail price was $200. Nike brought the shoe back as a Protro in 2024 with React cushioning in place of Lunarlon.
