Review consensus

Sole Collector found the Starbury II a clear upgrade over the original, with a reinforced upper and larger shank plate that made it much more supportive on sharp lateral moves, though forefoot cushioning stayed minimal. Consumer Reports rated its heel cushioning very good and its forefoot cushioning good, but six of its nine testers said they would not buy it for basketball and called it better suited as a casual everyday shoe.

About the shoe

The Starbury II is the second signature shoe of Stephon Marbury, sold exclusively through Steve & Barry’s as part of the low-price Starbury line and also endorsed by Ben Wallace. Compared with the Starbury One, it has a lower cut, a more detailed and reinforced upper, a larger midfoot shank plate and stickier outsole rubber. It keeps the over-lasted construction, breathable mesh inner-sleeve tongue and ghillie lacing of the original, and a low-top version debuted alongside it. Like its predecessor, it retailed for about $15.
