The Akeem the Dream was Hakeem Olajuwon’s first signature shoe, released by Etonic in 1984 after the brand signed him as the top pick of that year’s NBA draft. Olajuwon wore the high-top through the 1984-85 NBA season with the Houston Rockets. As the first model in the line, it had no predecessor; the design pairs a leather upper with “Akeem The Dream” branding on the tongue. No source gives the original retail price, but Etonic reissued the shoe in 2014 and again in April 2015, when the retro sold for $120.
