Review consensus

No modern performance reviews of the Air Zoom Flight Five are available; the design was built for a quick, change-of-direction point guard, combining forefoot-to-midfoot Zoom Air, a midfoot torsion plate and a pivot-point outsole for sharp cuts.

About the shoe

The Nike Air Zoom Flight Five is a Jason Kidd shoe from Nike Basketball’s Flight line, first released in 1997 and described in retro coverage as his first official signature model. It is known for its sculpted build and an oversized iridescent side pod nicknamed the “bug eye.” The design pairs 3/4-length Zoom Air cushioning with a midfoot torsion plate and an outsole full of pivot points for quick cuts. Kidd wore it with the Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns, and a 30th-anniversary retro is reported for 2027 at $170.
