Reviewers say the HyperAce 3 grips indoor courts better and offers more lateral support than the HyperAce 2, and its forefoot Zoom feels more responsive. The cushioning is not as plush as some top competitors, and heavier players may still feel landings. The fit runs snug and narrow and needs some break-in.

About the shoe

The HyperAce 3 is the third model in Nike’s HyperAce volleyball line, and players such as WNBA guard Jewell Loyd have also worn it for basketball. It combines a forefoot Air Zoom unit with a lightweight, breathable upper that has abrasion-resistant reinforcement at the toe and forefoot. Compared with the HyperAce 2, it gets a new multidirectional traction pattern in place of the earlier single pattern, along with an updated mesh upper with overlays in key areas, an internal webbing system and a plush collar. Nike.com lists it at $125.
