About the shoe
The Nike Total Air 9 was Lisa Leslie’s first and only signature shoe with Nike, released in 1998 while she played for the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA’s early seasons. As the first model in her line, it had no predecessor. Leslie based the design on Chanel, using quilted black leather and a silver Swoosh that reflected her habit of wearing silver jewelry. It ran on Nike’s then-new full-length Total Air cushioning, a setup Nike usually reserved for NBA big men such as Tim Duncan and David Robinson, and it retailed for $139.99.
