These chunky bricks were so uncomfortable that Kobe himself opted out of wearing them during the Lakers’ Finals run of 2001-2002, instead picking the initial adidas The Kobe shoes. This debacle turned out to be the last straw for Kobe, who subsequently fled adidas, later signing with Nike.
