About the shoe
Despite the shoe’s strange number scheme, the Melo 5.5 was Carmelo Anthony’s second signature sneaker (following the successful 1.5). The shoe borrowed heavily from the Jordan 5 and 6 (hence the 5.5 moniker), and was released in 2005.
Carmelo Anthony made waves after wearing the Melo 5.5 as a member of the Trail Blazers in game in early 2020, almost 15 years after the shoe was first released.
