Reviewers call traction the Ja 4's best attribute and say it is a much more supportive and stable shoe than the Ja 3. The tradeoff is cushioning, as the Cushlon 3.0 midsole feels less bouncy and plush than the Ja 3's ZoomX. The fully synthetic upper is durable but takes a while to break in.

The Ja 4 is the fourth signature shoe for Ja Morant with Nike, which debuted in the “Nightmare” colorway. The biggest change from the Ja 3 is underfoot, where a Cushlon 3.0 midsole replaces the hybrid ZoomX setup and ZoomX-type supercritical foam moves to the sockliner. A new TPU JA-Frame adds containment through the midfoot, and a diamond-textured upper replaces the logo treatment used on its predecessor. Standard colorways retail for $130, while special editions such as “Deep Water” cost $140.
