Kawhi Leonard may be the most complete player in the world and he has a signature shoe deal to match his talent level. On February 17, 2019, the New Balance OMN1S were debuted during the NBA All Star Game. New Balance then released a limited edition Kawhi Two-Way Pack, the only sale of the OMN1S to the general public before the shoe’s worldwide release date on October 23, 2019. His first official signature shoe, the KAWHI, released in August 2020 during the Clippers exciting run in the Orlando Bubble, followed in subsequent seasons by the KAWHI II and III.
With Leonard’s multi-year deal with New Balance, the American shoe company is trying to establish itself as a legitimate player in the performance sneaker game. Leonard’s Finals MVP performance with the Raptors, all the while parading a variety of striking OMN1S colorways, cemented New Balance as a brand to watch out for.
Since joining the NBA, Kawhi had been with Jordan Brand, and was regarded as one of the most high profile players to wear the Air Jordan, along with fellow superstar Russell Westbrook. His flashy Jordan PEs featured the evocative “Klaw” logo on the tongues. On June 3, 2019, Leonard filed a lawsuit against Nike, alleging that they fraudulently obtained the rights to his personal logo and were illegally blocking him from using the logo on his New Balance gear.
