Wilmington, North Carolina native Saniya Rivers won an NCAA title as a freshman at South Carolina before transferring to NC State, where she played three seasons. The Connecticut Sun selected her eighth overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft, the highest an NC State player has ever been drafted. Rivers had an NIL deal with adidas in college. On court with the Sun, she has worn the Nike JA 3, the JA 3 Twelve Time and the Nike KD 18 All-Star.
