Review consensus

One of the best performing Air Jordans of the past ten years, the 34 has outstanding cushioning, support and traction that should benefit players at all positions. It sits on our list of the top basketball shoes of 2020.

About the shoe

The AJ XXXIV comes at a point of transition for Jordan Brand, with veteran signature stars like Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul in the sunset of their careers, while newcomers like Zion Williamson and Jayson Tatum are on their way up.

The shoe itself straddles the line between old and new. It is the lightest Air Jordan ever, tipping the scales at 13.08 ounces, and it also jettisons the laceless FastFit system from the 33. Technology-wise, the 34 introduces the Jordan Eclipse Plate, which includes a massive Zoom Air unit in the forefoot as well as two Pebax pieces surrounding the cushioning. The shoe’s upper is a highly breathable mesh, and the aesthetics of the shoe take some cues from both the AJ 4 and 11s.
